Piestewa Peak Trailhead

A favorite of both locals and tourists alike, the existing facilities at the Piestewa Peak Trailhead were experiencing a shortage of parking and due to the facilities age, failing infrastructure. Improvements for this trailhead redevelopment included new parking lots, ramadas, restroom/ranger station facility, vehicular/pedestrian bridge linking the Mesquite and Brittlebush Trailheads, entry monument, and refurbishing ramadas. The project involved working within a mountain preserve as well as blending improvements to meet ADA while dealing with significant grade changes. J2 provided an overall master plan that guided the development of each trailhead in this area. J2 was the prime firm providing civil engineering and landscape architecture for the Mesquite and Brittlebush Trailheads and a subconsultant for the Saguaro and Cholla areas.
